Ocassional PestsOccasional Invaders are insects that like the habitat outside your home and only migrate indoors during low or high temperatures or during dry or very wet seasons. Once inside, some of these occasional invaders cause damage to your structure, furniture, food, and clothing.  Let our insect control products aid you in killing pests in or around your home.

 
 
 

Ticks

American Dog tick found east of the Rocky Mountains and is a common pest of dogs. The American Dog tick is a carrier of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Can't complete it's life cycle inside and will die shortly. Eliminate rodent population using traps or poison. Barrier sprays and perimeter applications of residual pesticides such as Tengard SFR (A0020) or Dragnet SFR (A0023) to all vegetation along paths and trails and grassy areas.

Brown Dog tick is mostly a southern pest but can be found in some northern states. Clean house/kennel thoroughly, vacuum indoors. Residual spray such as Tengard SFR (A0020) or insecticide dust like Delta Dust (A0003) should be applied to tick harborage areas to eliminate the Brown Dog tick.

Blacklegged tick is found east of the Mississippi river can be controlled by eliminating rodent harborages from the area. Treat outside with Onslaught ME (0165) or a wetable powder such as Delta Dust (A0003).

Pacific Blacklegged tick is found along the west coast and into Arizona. Can be controlled by eliminating rodent harborages from the area. Treat outside with Onslaught ME (0165) or a wetable powder such as Delta Dust (A0003).

Ticks

 

 

Fleas

Cat / Dog fleas prefer these two animals but will infest like raccoons, opossums, rats and humans. Depending on the state of development, adult Cat / Dog fleas can survive or remain in a limbo state if no blood host is available for up to a year.

Control can be achieved by thoroughly vacuuming the house, seal the vacuum bag and dispose of immediately. Then treat inside and outside with a residual insecticide like Dragnet SFR (A0023) mixed with an Insect Growth Regulator , we suggest Archer IGR (A0135). Discard pet bedding, take your pet to the vet or a pet groomer on the same day on which the house and yard is treated.

Varied Carpet Beetles

Carpet beetles find food in obscure places and disperse widely throughout a structure making them difficult to control. Entering your home through open windows the Varied Carpet beetle lava feed on a wide variety of foods, including carpets, woolens, skins, stuffed animals, leather bindings on books, feathers, silk and plant products. Their favorite food however is dried bugs.

Control can be achieved by cleaning and vacuuming. You may want to apply a residual insecticide like Cyonara 9.7 (A0235) to cracks and crevices in your home.

Varied Carpet beetle

 
 

Powderpost Beetles

Powderpost beetles can be found in dead and dried wood and cured lumber. Damage can occur to rafters, joists, flooring, and furniture. A sure sign of active Powder Post beetles in wood is a stream of frass falling from small excite holes.

Control can be achieved by spraying the infected wood with Timbor Professional (A0138) or Bora Care (A0058).

Merchant Grain Beetles

A merchant grain beetle can chew into unopened paper or cardboard boxes, plastic, and foil packages. Once they infest a package, they multiply quickly and spread to other stored foods.

Control can be achieved by applying a residual pesticide like Cyonara 9.7 (A0235) to surfaces, cracks and crevices or a good dust like Drione Dust (A0123) to cracks and crevices.

Earwigs

Earwigs hide during the day in moist shady places beneath stones, sidewalks, and debris, but earwigs will migrate indoors during hot, dry weather.

Control can be achieved by sealing entry points and spraying a three foot barrier around the structure with a good microencapsulated product such as Onslaught ME (0165).

Indian Meal Moths

Indian Meal moths are one of the most common stored products pests found in homes. Indian Meal moth larvae feed on gain products, seeds, nuts, and chocolate. They damage food by spinning silken threads, webbing food particles together as they feed and craw.

Control can be achieved by discarding all infested products then placing a good pheromone trap such as Pherotech Flour & Pantry Moth Trap (A0210) or PT4 - ALLURE INSECT TRAP (A0187) You can also use a residual aerosol like Whitmire Crack & Crevice III Aerosol (A0245) in cabinet cracks and crevices.

Pillbugs / Sowbugs

Pillbugs / Sowbugs invade crawl spaces, basements, and other damp/moist areas close to your foundation. If Pillbugs / Sowbugs are found indoors, it often means large numbers outdoors.

Control can be achieved by eliminating moisture conditions and sealing entry points with caulking around siding, windows, doors, pipes, wires, etc. Microencapsulated residual spray such as Onslaught ME (0165) or a wetable powder like Demon WP (A0081) would be used to do a perimeter treatment around the structure focusing on potential entry points and cracks and crevices. Application of these products indoors may be necessary and can be supplemented by the use of a good dust like Drione Dust (A0123) in crack and crevices.
