Habitat

Often, eggs lain in pet hair or fur drop out where your pet rests or sleeps. Eggs hatch into larvae and can be found in carpet, rugs, upholstered furniture, or in your bed. Outdoors, fleas develop in sand, gravel, and dirt. Health Risks

The adults can transmit bubonic plaque from rodent to humans and oriental rat fleas can transmit endemic typhus fever from rats to humans. Tapeworms can be transmitted to dogs and cats. It can also be transmitted to children if parts of infested fleas are accidentally consumed. They can cause allergy dermatitis and skin irritations as well.

Prevention
