What are bed bugs?
They are small, nocturnal creatures that come out of hiding at night to feed on unsuspecting humans. They feed exclusively on blood.

Habitat

Bedbugs can be transported from one house to another in furniture, clothing, laundry, and in other like materials. Once inside, they can hide almost any where.  This is when it is necessary to know how to get rid of bedbugs. They tend to be found around the bed; hiding in the mattress, box springs, and sheets. They can also be found behind baseboards, under furniture, and behind switch plates.

Health Risks

Often, a Bedbug bite will cause a small irritation to the affected area. However, people who are sensitive to insect bites can experience a more severe reaction. In instances where infestations are heavy and people are bitten many times, the bites can be annoying and can cause sleep loss. In rare cases, a person can surfer from iron or hemoglobin deficiencies due to blood loss. Although research has shown that many infectious agents can live in Bedbugs, they are not reproduced in bedbugs and transmitted to humans.

Property Damage

Bedbugs do not damage your property or infest food.

Prevention
You cannot starve Bedbugs by leaving your dwelling for a few days because they can survive more than a year without feeding. Vacuuming the bed and carpet can help reduce infestations; however, bedbugs are elusive and often require professional pest control.   For prevention to be effective, we must know what bed bugs are.
