Cigarette Beetles are small, reddish brown beetles. They got their name by infesting tobacco factories and stores and living off of the stored tobacco. These beetles are not found only in tobacco products. They will infest all types of dried food products including spices, books, uphosltered furniture, dried fruit and vegetables.
Large numbers of cigarette beetles can be killed with aerosol spray applications. Liquid and dust formulations should be used to treat cracks, crevices and other voids in cabinets, shelves and pantries.

Cigarette beetles will infest tobacco and many different types of dried food products; such as, rice, cornmeal, peanuts, ginger, nutmeg, raisins, paprika, and many other products. They will not only infest these foods, but they will also lay their eggs inside the products. The adults will usually wander around your kitchen or home, making nests in new places. If you find these insects in your food it is very important to first dispose of the product. Then you should check in any thing else to make sure that they have not infested others.
