Do It Yourself Flying Insect Exterminating:

Flies and Gnats (small flies):

Flying InsectsNeed to know how to get rid of flies in your home or business? Pest Products Online provides you with the supplies and knowledge to eliminate these pesky insects.

Flies are a nuisance during summer months, but they can be a health hazard to your family as well. They lay enormous amounts of eggs and the larvae develop quickly into flying adults. Most flying insects only travel 1 to 2 miles from their birthplace, but they can fly as far as 20 miles in search of food.

House Flies

House flies cannot bite, but they do transport disease to humans and animals. Because they feed on animal wastes, garbage, and human foods, they are easy carriers of bacteria and disease. House flies have been associated with many filth related diseases so they are considered a significant health concern.

Control can be achieved by using a good fly control bait such as Golden Malrin Fly Bait (A0022) aerosol like Whitmire P.I. (A0127) or residual insecticide like Demon WP (A0081). Commercial businesses can use fly light like the Vector Classic (A0156).

Fruit Fly

Fruit flies look like tiny gnats and they swarm around your garbage looking for rotting fruits and vegetables to forage on to lay their eggs.

Control can be achieved by finding and eliminating the breeding material. Use Drain Gel (A0071) in your drains and you might want to use a few Natural Catch Fruit Fly Traps (A0174)

Gnat

Fungus gnats are really very small flies. They occasionally become a nuisance indoors when adults emerge in large numbers as mosquito-like insects from potted plants or flower boxes containing damp soil rich in humus. Adult Fungus gnats are attracted to lights and are often first noticed at windows.

Control can be achieved by locating and removing their breeding site or condition which would support fungal growth. After the breeding site is eliminated use a good aerosol such as CB 80 Aerosol Insecticide (A0008) to kill the remaining adults.
