Habitat
These insects are scavengers that feed mainly on decaying organic matter. They thrive in areas of high moisture and tend to hide during the day. Outdoors, they can be found under mulch, compost, boards, stones, and other objects resting on the damp ground. They can invade crawl spaces, basements, thresholds, and other areas close to your foundation. If found indoors, it often means large numbers outdoors. They will die without moisture, so they will often search out areas under sinks, in damp basements, and other areas were they can find moisture.
Health Risks
They do not bite, sting, or transmit disease.
Property Damage
Rollie pollies are a nuisance by their presence because they often infest your home in large numbers. They do not infest food, clothing, or wood.
Prevention
Seal cracks around your foundation, windows, and doors. Often, you have to reduce the number of Pillbugs or sow bugs outside, to keep them from migrating inside your home.
