Habitat

Bumble Bees nest outdoors in yards, flower beds, wood piles, and landscaped rock walls. Often nestling in the ground; they can also build their nests above ground inside homes, sheds, patios and decks.

Health Risks

These insects can sting many times. Often, the affected area will become red, swollen, and painful. People allergic to insect stings can have a more severe reaction and should seek medical attention, especially if stung more than once.  To prevent any health risk to you or your family, know your bumble bee facts.

Property Damage

Their colony can cause considerable damage if they build their nests inside your home. They can enter a home and build their nest in cracks and crevices in your walls, fireplace, and floors. It can be difficult and expensive to remove the Bumble bees and their honeycombs once established inside a structure.

Prevention

To apply an insecticide, wait until night when the bumble bees are less active. Cover underground nest opening with soil after treatment, but do not cover house walls until all activity has stopped. To keep the queen from entering a building, seal cracks and holes or cover them with small gauge wire mesh.
